Technological progress provides a new way for water control
Every weekend, tourists come to the fisherman's Wharf at the mouth of Tiexi Lake in Huzhou City to see the beauty of Taihu Lake. A few years ago, it was still a place where lakes were polluted and cyanobacteria were rampant. Now, great progress has been made in the treatment of decomposed solar aerator.
"This is a major breakthrough that we have made in the research of special water projects through more than three years of scientific research and engineering demonstration." Xu Xiangyang, Deputy Dean and doctoral supervisor of the School of Environment and Resources of Zhejiang University, told reporters that the water project is one of the 16 major national science and technology projects aimed at solving the water pollution problem which restricts the economic and social development.
Since 2008, Zhejiang University, supported by the Department of Environmental Protection of Zhejiang Province and the Provincial Science and Technology Department, has undertaken six projects of water project, such as technical integration and engineering demonstration of comprehensive regulation of polluted rivers in the Taihu Lake Basin, and has conquered 14 key technologies of pollution control. Relying on the comprehensive environmental renovation projects and the popularization and application of the research results, the water quality standard rate of the section at the entrance of Weixi Lake has reached 100%. Sewage control and water supply protection are the key and difficult points in the implementation of "five-water co-governance" in river network areas. In view of the problems of inadequate drinking water intake standard and high cumulative risk of water environment in Hangzhou-Jiahu area, Zhejiang Environmental Monitoring Center has successively implemented water projects such as "Water Environmental Risk Assessment, Research and Development of Early Warning Technology and Demonstration of Comprehensive Application in River Network Area", "Integrated and Comprehensive Demonstration of Water Environmental Management Technology in Taihu Basin (Zhejiang Plate).
"Water projects have changed our thinking on pollution control." Wang Xiaoquan, deputy director of Zhejiang Environmental Monitoring Center, said that through the implementation of the project, water environmental management in the province will hopefully change from total target control to total capacity control, from passive management to active management, and provide comprehensive technical support for sewage treatment and water supply protection. The reporter learned from Zhejiang Provincial Environmental Protection Department that a series of advanced technologies, such as composite biological filter technology, aerated reoxygenation constructed wetland technology, river network water environmental risk assessment and early warning management platform, have been popularized and applied in the "five-water co-governance".
In order to make the plan come to the ground, Zhejiang Academy of Environmental Sciences has organized more than 1000 natural villages throughout the county, ensured "one village, one map", developed the intelligent design software of water treatment CAD, and improved the efficiency of pollution control.
